Enter any domain name into WHOIS Wolf and click Lookup. We query the domain's registrar and RDAP/WHOIS records to return the registrant details (where public), organization, registrar, registration and expiration dates, name servers, and domain status codes.

When WHOIS privacy or GDPR redaction is active, the registrant's name and email are hidden, but you can still see the registrar, creation and expiration dates, name servers, and status codes. RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the modern replacement for WHOIS. ICANN began sunsetting the legacy WHOIS protocol in January 2025, and RDAP is now the authoritative source for gTLD registration data. RDAP returns structured, machine-readable results with standardized fields. WHOIS Wolf queries RDAP where available and falls back to WHOIS so you get complete data either way.

Run a lookup and check the creation date field, which shows when the domain was first registered. WHOIS Wolf calculates the domain age from that date. Many domain owners use privacy protection services (like WHOIS Privacy or Domain Privacy) to hide their personal contact information, and most gTLD registrant data has been redacted since GDPR took effect in 2018. This is a legitimate privacy practice that protects registrants from spam and unwanted contact.

Domain status codes (EPP codes) indicate the current state of a domain. Common statuses include "clientTransferProhibited" (transfer locked), "clientDeleteProhibited" (deletion locked), "redemptionPeriod" (recently expired), and "ok" or "active" (functioning normally). WHOIS and RDAP data comes directly from domain registrars and is generally accurate at the time of query. However, information may be outdated if the registrant hasn't updated their details, or redacted for privacy reasons under GDPR and similar regulations.
